Ugh, Now I know I’ve been ragging on Gort in these comments since I started rereading, but it’s moments like this that justify it for me. He really does sound like a player character here, with a player vindictive at being disagreed with.
we very rarely roleplayed in this game to be honest. it’s 99.9999% scripted for the comic 🙂
Oh hey! It’s one of the player characters! Could you convince the creator of this comic to release for sale the second volume of this comic? I would have bought the first volume, but without the second volume, seems pointless, y’know?
Hello! I’m super-glad that you care about the comic enough to ask, but due to the way I never made these pages for print in the first place, it would unfortunately take an awful lot of time to adjust the DPI, page size, reletter, touch up art, etc. I was thoroughly unprepared for the notion of print while I was scribbling these in my spare time at uni, it turns out!
Since I’m just one person working alone, I have to choose quite carefully what projects I spend my time on, and currently that’s finishing up my second webcomic, Widdershins. Thanks for asking!
Thank you for responding! First, let me gush over your work if you don’t mind. Don’t worry, I’ll be brief! Reading your comic helped me get into the proper mindset of role-playing an evil aligned character. Before Darken, any attempt to play an evil character turned into a chaotic stupid character. Think the Black Mage from 8 bit theater. My evil characters had no personality outside of “Mwhahaha! I eat babies!”. I exaggerate, but not by much. Reading Darken made me realized that evil aligned characters can have friends, can care for others, and even have a conscience. This is the comic I show people who want to play an evil aligned character, but not sure how to go about it. Heck, I pretty much show this comic to pretty much everyone who plays DnD! It truly is a fantastic comic that I come back to every year or so!
Please, do finish your Widdershin webcomic. I know you’ve been working on it for many years. That is your focus and I respect that! But after that, if you do ever consider releasing Darken volume two, please PLEASE, let me know (my Email i have is current!) ! I will be the first to buy whatever the highest tier you make on KickStarter for the release of Darken! Excuse my fanboyism!
One more question: Do you have any recommendations for other DnD or DnDish webcomics that you enjoy? I’m past the halfway mark on my rererereread of Darken and I wanna have another DnD(ish) comic ready to go once I’m done with Darken.
I’ll cross my fingers that you’ll consider releasing volume 2 in the future, but whether you do or you don’t, I just wanna say again THANK YOU for your wonderful creation!
PS: Sorry for the double post!
